Client picks a time
If the service requires a deposit, a payment step appears in the flow — the same widget, one step longer.
The slot goes on hold
It is reserved for that client while payment clears, and invisible to everyone else. No double bookings during checkout.
Paid, or back on sale
A signed Stripe webhook confirms the payment and the booking is marked paid. If nothing clears, the hold expires and the time is bookable again.

Stripe confirms every payment through a signed webhook — a booking is never marked paid because a browser said so.

Cloudflare Turnstile guards public payment endpoints, so card-testing bots stop before they reach Stripe.
Tips at checkout
Clients can add a tip on the payment step, and 100% of it goes to the specialist.
Gift cards into deposits
A gift card can be redeemed straight into the deposit, so prepaid clients skip the payment step.
Refunds
Handled through your own Stripe account, on your policy — the platform is not in the middle of it.
Standard Stripe processing fees apply to payments you take. Square and PayPal are not supported.

How do deposits stop no-shows?
A client who has money on the appointment behaves differently from one who clicked a free slot. The deposit is taken at booking, the slot is held while the payment clears, and if it never clears the time is automatically released for someone else.
What happens if the payment does not go through?
The hold expires by itself and the slot becomes bookable again. You do not have to notice it, chase it, or clean it up manually.
Can I set a deposit for some services only?
Yes. Deposits are configured per service — fixed or percentage — and you can also apply one rule to every service at once when you want a single policy.
Where does the deposit money go?
Into your own Stripe account, directly. GoBookingSuite is not a payment intermediary and never holds your funds.
Do clients need an account to pay a deposit?
No. Booking and payment are account-free, and every confirmation email carries a secure link to cancel or reschedule without a login.
Is the client’s consent to your cancellation policy recorded?
Yes — the timestamp plus the exact policy text the client saw is stored, which is what you want if a payment is ever disputed.
